Gay Inhibition

Gay men. Black gay men. On top of the counters, dancing, shaking their bon bons. There is no remorse - completely unapologetic, completely unbound by my sense of societal order and decorum.

One of the shortest, most energetic ones told me to my face - and I mean right in my face so that I could feel the end spits of his words: " But I don't know you... you're not my friend..."... expressing how real he was, and how his real friends he'd known for years - unlike me. He was right, he is not my friend, nor would we make good friends but somehow I felt slightly affronted, attacked by this burst of honesty. It literally came from nowhere. But black unapologetic gay men can do and say and wear whatever they like.

Like harem pants. I'm a big fan because they're super comfortable. But they look ridiculous with their loose gaping crotch area which leaves one to imagine that there could be all sorts of creative or alien looking gential parts hidden that gaping material. Apart from the freedom of clothing, complete inhibition - no apologies for loving the big girly ballads - "I'm every womaannnnnn, it's alll in mmeeee...." (Whitney Houston/Chaka Khan: http://http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8xuUdI1an0)... No apologies for doing the things "ordinary" people struggle to do behind locked doors, closed blinds, infront of a mirror... Just no apologies.

1) Gay men are free

2) Black gay men are free too

3) Non-conformity = freedom??

4) Blatant honesty hurts

5) Harem pants are comfortable

6) Harem pants look silly

7) Inhibited means confident?

8) Inhibited means you act on your insecurities?
